This was created some time back but never actually updated here to deviant art. This was done as a test for timing and pacing using an older set of storyboards and this scene does not appear in the current teaser as depicted here. Using some existing anime combat sequences I wanted to see if I could be inspired to create a similar sequence with Tyr and Braun. I think the results speak for themselves! This came out nicely and helped to pin down an early style for how we wanted these characters to feel and operate.

Tyr vs Braun Animatic Test by ~mikewinn is a fantastic example of a good animatic. Good movement and compositions throughout, I cannot wait to see the finished result! ( Featured by kingmancheng )

Really cool and dynamic, how many frames is this?
Reply
:iconmikewinn:
mikewinn Featured By Owner Apr 16, 2013
Well I timed it out at 24 fps so ..however many seconds it is x 24 will give you that. :) but as it's not full animation and just keyed out storyboard drawings the number of drawings isn't quite as insane as the number of frames. Thanks for viewing!

Ahh, thanks, sorry, what I meant was the number of drawings, not frames haha, yeah its really cool how you could still get it to looks so effective just with a series of storyboards

Hey! If I recall it took about a three to four days to produce the drawings as I was working on it off and on in the middle of other things and when free time allowed it. Once done and scanned it was maybe a couple of days to piece together the animatic. It's been awhile but I do recall spending about that long.

It takes day or two to make animatic.

Yes this is about right. It took about that give or take a few tweaks. Creating the boards themselves took a few days of work during spare time and free hours. Three or four or so. :)

My mind kept going BOOOOM every time the character would crash into something or the screen would shake. I could have sworn I heard it making a crashing noise! lol
